First of all let me just say i don’t mean all web design companies in Dubai are bad. i work with couple of them and they are very good because they hire experienced professionals and pay them a decent salary monthly, but i get the occasional client who come to me after horrible experience with web design companies.
In the past month a client contacted me who wanted a one page picture based template. She went through two companies that couldn’t deliver the requirements. i agreed to continue the work and finish the project. once i received the code i didn’t Know to laugh or cry so i decided to blog about it.
After paying 4000 AED in advance and waiting for a month she received a menu in HTML which was 70 lines of code and generated 62 w3c errors (i don’t know how the developer could fit that many errors in 70 lines) and a slide show of images as pages (there was no text only images). There was no directory structure all the files were pasted in one folder and a collection of Deprecated HTML Tags were used. The funny part was that they offer her SEO service cause they claimed that can make the pictures really SEO friendly. To cut the story short I had to start all over again and create the website form scratch with actual content instead of images and later converted it to a WordPress theme.
Well if the company offering cheaper prices than what good companies usually charge (companies charge between 10 to 12k for a basic dynamic sites with a CMS) it means they hired junior developer just out of college or still students and they pay them 4 thousand per month or outsource to somebody who doesn’t speak a word of English. if the developer gets paid that much in country that the cost of living is at least 10k per month what do you expect the result to be. I’ll be honest when i started web development i was not that good (perhaps my old colleges can elaborate on that :)) because i was still a student and was getting little to no money for salary so i didn’t really taught it was worth the effort to improve my skills then. but when i got hired in a better company in a year i doubled my effort to learn as much as i can and still learning and trying to improve my skills every day after 8 years.
Choosing the right company for web design in Dubai is hard. Here is a guide to avoid such bad experiences
Hope that helps.
